EXPLANATION OF STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT: Maintaining and acquiring WiFi technology in a state of good repair ensures stable and reliable systems for passengers using internet connectivity onboard vehicles. This helps to provide customer service excellence and allows for staff to better manage equipment when technology is updated.
BUSINESS CASE: Capital Metro offers passenger WiFi on MetroExpress, MetroRapid, and MetroRail services that have limited stops and passengers are onboard for a longer period of time compared to MetroBus routes that have frequent stops. The WiFi service is widely used and offers passengers free internet access. The WiFi is shared among all passengers and is not intended to be used for passengers needing streaming services but instead for light internet use such as website browsing, email, and viewing short video clips.
